Discover the wonders of Pakistan in our Buddhist Pilgrimage Tour as we embark on a drive through the winding mountainous Swat region which form part of the Hindu Kush mountain range and explore the UNESCO Heritage sites of Taxila and Takht-i-Bahi.

This 5-day whirlwind tour starts at Islamabad International Airport with an orientation tour of Islamabad city. A couple of days will be utilized exploring the vast ancient ruins of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Taxila (including Taxila Museum) and Takht-i-Bahi.  Sandwiched between these sites, the tour moves to the Swat region where several attractions such as Ghaligai, Shingardar Stupa, Nemogram Monastery and Swat museum are frequented along with shopping trips to the local Bazaar.  There are several heritage sites in the vicinity of Swat and due to time limitations; the itinerary will be finalised following clients interests.  The final day involves a farewell brief by the guide and a drop to the airport.   Optional activities include Buddha Caves, Centaurus Shopping, and Mankiala Stupa.

Location & Detailed Plan

Discover the wonders of Pakistan in our Buddhist Pilgrimage Tour as we embark on a drive through the winding mountainous Swat region which form part of the Hindu Kush mountain range and explore the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Taxila and Takht-i-Bahi. This whirlwind 5 days tour starts upon arrival at Islamabad International Airport. Your guide will meet and greet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel for 2-3 hours rest. We will hold a group briefing on the tour, health & safety and other paperwork. Time permitting, a short city tour of Islamabad can be arranged for late afternoon or early evening. Day 2 shall commence with a trip to the UNESCO Heritage Site of Taxila, visiting some of the following prominent sites Dharmarajika Stupa & Monastery,  Bhir Mound, Mohra Moradu, Sleeping Buddha, Sirkap – Double Headed Eagle, Jandial Temple and Jaulian Stupa.  We shall move on to Swat for the next stage of the tour. Swat shall act as a base for the next two days as we explore the local and regional sites. Breakfast shall be followed by a short trip to Swat Museum and shopping at the local Bazaar is followed by visits to the Saidu Sharif Stupa & Tomb, Butkara I and Butkara III Heritage sites. Return to hotel in Swat.  The next day shall form the 2nd part of the Swat Tour and covers attraction and sites such as Ghaligai, the Shingardar Stupa, the Hollow Stupa and Gumbatona Stupa. The next phase of the tour shall take us to the 2nd UNESCO world heritage site of Takht-i-Bahi and finally head back to the hotel in Islamabad.
